7 Ways To Fix Sound Delay On TikTok(+Sound Adjusting Tips)

If you are just getting started on TikTok- or even if you are a seasoned user- and you are experiencing sound delays, it can be quite frustrating. However, don’t let it get you down. There are some things you can do to fix a sound delay.

How to fix the sound delay on TikTok? Use the Timer option. When creating a TikTok video, tap the Timer button on the right of the Camera screen. Turn your phone off, then on, and check if the audio got synced. Clear the app’s cache. Open Settings on your device>Go to the list of your apps and select Snapchat>Tap on “Storage” and then tap “Clear Cache” and “Clear Data.”

One of those should fix the issue you’re facing.

How Does Sound Sync Work On TikTok?

When you upload pictures and videos to TikTok, you have the option of adding a sound to it. If you have a video, you’ll be given the option to adjust clips.

When you get to the adjust clips page, there should be a selection in the bottom left of your screen that says: “Auto Sync.” This will automatically sync your clips with the sound you have selected.

This is a fairly quick and easy process, and then you can go on to complete the editing process, as usual, to get your video uploaded to TikTok.

Why Is My TikTok Sound So Delayed?

Typically, a sound delay issue is going to be due to the internet connection.

Then again, it could be the way the video was made. Perhaps the user who made it and uploaded it didn’t take the time to sync their audio properly. In some rare cases, it could be a glitch with TikTok’s servers.

How Do I Fix The Sound Delay On TikTok?

Below, we will take a closer look at some of the options for fixing sound delays on your TikTok videos.

1. Check For Updates

When you are experiencing sound delays on TikTok – or any other issue for that matter- the first thing you should do is check for updates.

To do this, navigate to the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) and search for TikTok. If the button says “Update,” click on it, and the update will be processed.

After the update is installed, open TikTok and see if that fixed the issue. If it did, great, just keep using TikTok as usual. If it didn’t, you’d need to try something else.

2. Restart Your Device

This is the easiest and, therefore, should always be the top thing you do when you have any app issues.  If you’ve already restarted, try doing a hard reset.

For Android: If you are an Android user, you should be able to press the power and volume down buttons at the same time.

For iPhone: If you have an iPhone, you will:

  1. Press/release volume up
  2. Press/release volume down
  3. Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.

3. Use Timer Option

When you are making a TikTok, tap the Timer button on the right of the Camera screen to give yourself a few-second delay before TikTok actually starts recording you. It can help with that annoying sound delay we are trying to tackle.

4. Uninstall/Reinstall TikTok App

If there was no update available or if the update didn’t work, you’ll want to uninstall and then reinstall your TikTok app. Simply go to your Play Store or App Store and search for TikTok. Then, click on “Uninstall.”

Once the app is uninstalled from your phone, click on “Install” or “Download” to install it onto your device again. Open TikTok and see if the issue is fixed. If not, keep moving down the list of tips.

5. Make Sure Permissions Are On

Go to the settings on the app and make sure that all permissions are on. As long as everything is on, you should be able to use the app with no problems. To check that, go to Snapchat Settings>Click Permission>Enable any missing permissions.

However, you might also want to do a “Force Stop” and “Clear Cache” while you’re in the settings.

6. Clear The Cache

If you’re still having issues with your sound delay, try clearing the Snapchat cache.

  1. Open Settings on your device.
  2. Go to the list of your apps and select Snapchat.
  3. Tap on “Storage” and then tap “Clear Cache” and “Clear Data.”

This is something you should be doing on a fairly regular basis anyway to prevent any app-related issues.

7. Force Stop The App

Follow these simple steps to force stop your TikTok:

  1. Go to the Settings menu of your phone and find the Apps section.
  2. Choose the TikTok app from the app list.
  3. Click the Force Stop option.
  4. Launch TikTok again and check if the video lagging issue is gone.

How To Turn Sound Sync On/Off On TikTok?

There’s not an option for turning sound sync on or off on TikTok. However, you do have the option to auto-sync or to adjust the sound on your TikTok videos manually.

How Do You Adjust Sound Sync On TikTok?

TikTok users now have the option of recording a video between 15 seconds and three minutes.

Of course, you can’t get an entire song in a 15-second or 1-minute span, so you’ll need to trim the song to fit what works well with the video you have created.

Start by creating your TikTok video as usual. However, before you complete the process and post your video, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Tap the icon that looks like a pair of scissors on the bottom right side of the screen, next to the “Favorite” ribbon.
  2. This will bring up a page with a sound wave underneath the video. You can then drag your finger across the screen to move to the section of the song you want to use in your video. You’ll see the timestamps of the song.
  3. Additionally, you can tap on “Volume” at the bottom to adjust how loud or how soft you want the sound to be.
  4. Now, you can preview your video and make sure your audio is synced like you wanted it to be.
  5. Finally, post your video, sharing it with the TikTok world.

How Do I Change Audio Sync On TikTok?

When you are uploading to TikTok, in order to get the option for audio sync, you need at least two items, one of which needs to be a short video clip.

If you are only choosing pictures for a collage video, you won’t be given the option to sync the audio.

However, once you have chosen your uploads for TikTok, as long as you have chosen one video clip, you can either tap on “auto-sync” at the bottom left of the screen, or you can click on the scissors icon on the right side of the screen and manually sync the sound yourself.

Can Sound Be Changed After Posting To TikTok?

After your video has been posted to TikTok, you may find that you’re not happy with the sound that you chose.  Unfortunately, once the video is posted, there’s nothing you can do to change the sound. Your only option is to delete it and start over.

This is why you should spend some time going through the sounds to make sure that you have the perfect one. It’s not just the sound that can’t be changed. Once the video is up, there are no changes or edits that can be made.

Before you delete it permanently from TikTok, tap on the three dots on the video and save it to your device.

You also have the option of saving it to your device when you post, which is a good habit to get into, just in case something happens and you lose your TikTok account for some reason.

Conclusion

As you can see, sometimes TikTok users may experience a bit of a delay in the sounds on your videos. This isn’t anything to get too worked up over, as it can be easily fixed. If all else fails, you can simply uninstall/reinstall the app.
