Make sure you drill only in the spot where you want to install the doorbell.
The drill can go through wood and brick.
However, if you have any trouble with drilling a hole, you can use any standard exterior surface drill to finish the job.
How To Unscrew A Ring Doorbell?
To remove a Ring Doorbell, you need to do the following:
- Turn off the Ring Doorbell. If your doorbell is connected to the electrical system, there is a chance you may be shocked during the process, to avoid this turn off the circuit breaker that the doorbell is connected to.
- Remove the doorbell’s faceplate. You first need to unscrew the security screw at the bottom of the base plate using the Torx T6 screwdriver. Detach the faceplate once done.
- You can now take the battery out if that is why you wanted to open the device.
- If you want to remove the doorbell completely, you will need a screwdriver now. Once the faceplate is removed, you will have access to the base of the doorbell, remove the four Phillips head screws on each side of it, and you are done.
How To Unscrew A Ring Doorbell Without A Tool?
You can try dislodging the doorbell using a dull-edged object, but we wouldn’t recommend it.
You would need to use a lot of force to dislodge the screws, which are there for the sole purpose of keeping the doorbell mounted.
When you try to remove the doorbell with the specific tools for the job, you risk damaging the device.
Therefore, we suggest that the only way you remove it is with tools designed for the job.

In either case, you will have to unscrew the faceplate and take the battery out.
Alternatively, let’s say you didn’t pay close attention when installing the doorbell, and it’s high or low.
You will need to unscrew it and reposition it, so it’s at an optimal level for the camera to give you a clear view of who is at your door.
