How To Reset/Hard Reset Your Bosch Dishwasher?

Bosch’s dishwashers can commonly be found in homes.

If you own one, you probably have wondered how you can reset it.

Resetting the dishwasher gets rid of any programming issues, allowing it to function again.

Bosch has made the reset process easy, by making it available in the control panel.

To reset your dishwasher, locate the ‘Start’ button and hold it down for a few seconds.

To hard reset your dishwasher, unplug it from the power source for 3-5 minutes, then plug it back in.

We have a guide that will help you understand the reset process.

Where Is The Reset Button On A Bosch Dishwasher?

Bosch’s dishwashers don’t come with a separate reset button.

You can use either the ‘Start’ button or the ‘On/Off’ button in most models, and the ‘Cancel’ or ‘Drain’ buttons on other older models.

All of these buttons can be found on the control panel of the dishwasher.

Is It Safe To Reset The Dishwasher?

Yes, it is completely safe to reset your dishwasher. The process basically refreshes the dishwasher’s program.

Many people opt to reset it when they face an error with the system.

By resetting it, the system shuts down and starts all over again with its original, factory settings.

Overriding most errors, keep in mind that the reset does not work with any issues related to parts of the dishwasher.

How To Reset The Bosch Dishwasher?

First, you need to see which Bosch dishwasher model you have, this way you know if it needs to be reset through the ‘Start’ button, or ‘On/Off/Cancel/Drain’ buttons.

The dishwasher manual will tell you which of the two buttons to use to reset.

Once you know the model and which button to use, all you have to do is hold the button down for 5 seconds. Here are the steps:

  1. Locate the “Start” button and hold it down for 5 seconds.
  2. You should notice the display showing “0:00”.
  3. The machine will then automatically drain the water out and reset the system.

The dishwasher will restart on its own.

The dishwasher will then start its drain process and beep when that is done.

You can then start the machine and use it as you like.

How To Hard Reset A Bosch Dishwasher?

A hard reset will reset the system back to its factory settings.

To do that, follow the steps below:

  1. Take the dishwasher power cord out of the socket.
  2. Leave it out for about 3 minutes.
  3. Plug it back into the socket.
  4. You can now turn on the dishwasher, the process should have hard reset it.

How to Reset the Timer on a Bosch Dishwasher?

There may be instances when the timer gets stuck. For that, you can reset it in the following way:

  1. Locate the ‘Spin’ button and hold it down.
  2. While you are holding that, turn the dial on the dishwasher to 7 o’clock.
  3. Continue to hold the ‘Spin’ button for another 5 seconds and let go.
  4. You can turn the dial to the ‘Off’ position now.

This process should reset the timer, you may have to try it again if you did not hold the ‘Spin’ button long enough.

Make sure to count or hold for a little longer, in case you are not sure.

Final Thought

The process will do no harm to the appliance.

In fact, manufacturers put that option in, so you can override programming issues that may arise with the machine.

You can use either the hard or normal reset options to overcome basic errors and have your machine up and running again.
