The Google Store and Apple’s App Store feature millions of third-party applications for users to download. We rarely use all the apps we download. 

For Android:

  1. Hold down on the app icon that you want to delete. 
  2. A menu will appear, click on either the ‘I’ button or ‘App Info’. 
  3. Select ‘Uninstall’.

For iPhone:

  1. Hold down the app you want to delete until it starts shaking and an ‘-’ or ‘X’ appears on the corner of it.
  2. Hit the ‘-’ or ‘X’ to remove the app. 
  3. Tap Delete App, then tap Delete to confirm.

Smartphones have made removing apps just as easy as it is to download them. Let’s look at all the ways you can remove third-party apps from your phone. 

How To Find Third-Party Apps On Android, Samsung, And iPhone?

The space where you find third-party apps on Android phones and iPhones differ since the two phones run on different operating systems. Android, made by Google has the Google Store, with all the applications available for Androids. The iPhone runs on iOS and has its own App Store with all the apps available for the phone. 

All the apps, including the third-party ones, will be located in the app store. There is no way to filter the apps, they are all listed together.

How To Remove Third-Party Apps From Android/Samsung/iPhone?

On an Android and Samsung phone, there is more than one way you can remove an app. Let’s look at all of them. 

Method 1

  1. Hold down on the app icon that you want to delete. 
  2. A menu will appear, click on either the ‘I’ button or ‘App Info’. 
  3. Select ‘Uninstall’.

Note, on a Samsung, you will have the ‘Uninstall’ option after you hold down the app icon. 

Method 2

  1. Go to ’Settings’.
  2. Click on ‘Apps & Notifications’ or ‘Apps’.
  3. Scroll down and click on the app you want to remove. Click on the ‘Uninstall’ option.

Method 3

  1. Go to the Play Store.
  2. Search the app you want to uninstall. 
  3. When the listing pops up, you can select it and it will give you the option to uninstall it. 

iPhone

On the iPhone, there is one easy way to uninstall apps.

  1. Hold down the app you want to delete until it starts shaking and an ‘-’ or ‘X’ appears on the corner of it.
  2. Hit the ‘-’ or ‘X’ to remove the app. 
  3. Tap Delete App, then tap Delete to confirm.

How To Disable Third-Party Apps On Android/Samsung/iPhone?

Disabling an app is the equivalent of closing it, so it no longer uses your phone’s RAM. Since Android and iPhones run on different OS, the way to disable an app on each is different. 

Disabling An App On An Android/Samsung

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen. 
  2. Hold for a second and let go. 
  3. Go through the open apps. You can swipe up on whichever app you want to close or disable. 

Disabling An App On An iPhone

For iPhone X and above:

  1. From the bottom of your screen swipe up.
  2. You will now be able to see all the open apps, go to the one you want to close, and swipe up. 

For iPhone 8 Plus, SE, and below:

  1. Press the ‘Home’ button twice. 
  2. Go to the app you want to close and swipe up. 

Disabling apps you are not using free up memory for the phone to utilize on apps that you are using. 

Why Can’t I Uninstall Some Apps On My Phone?

The iPhone now allows you to remove all apps from the Home Screen. However, some phones disable the function to remove some pre-installed apps which they consider essential to the phone such as the Camera and Contacts.
